Meet Vel Moraine, the Tenth Sister: The Keeper of Quiet Magic.

She moves through the forest as if it breathes her name. Her cloak smells of ash and moss, her staff hums with buried rivers, and the brim of her hat holds dew that never dries.

Light bends away from her face, and where she walks, the air folds in on itself, a soft dimming, like dusk deciding to linger.

Once, there were ten sisters who ruled the seasons. Nine tended bloom and frost. But the Tenth, Vel Moraine, listened to the soil’s dream, to what the earth remembers in silence.

She calls herself patient, not dangerous.

“When you forget yourselves,” she promised, “I’ll remember you.”
